E-Commerce

E-commerce has taken the web by storm. there is nothing you cannot get in a normal everyday shop that you cannot get online. Not only if you get it online you will be shopping from the comfort of your own home, but you can also find the products of your desire at a cheaper price.
Everyday millions of people are buying things online, from grocery shopping, gift buying, to holiday shopping. E-commerce can make everybodies lives a lot easier, its less time consuming, cheaper and helpful to those who cannot drive. The customer also holds the power to choose when the item/s can be delivered. all these factors give the customer a lot of power, making it a major factor in the web being a great leveller.
But is this all so good. By the web offering so much, customers really do not need to leave the house. what will this do to peoples social skills. relying on everyone doing the work for you, this cannot be good for peoples health.

what do you think?

Wikipedia

One of the webs greatest sources of knowledge is the website Wikipedia. Many people have their opinions on wikipedia being a good or bad source. The fact that Wikipedia can be updated with knowledge by anyone with access to a computer makes it a great leveller, this being in the way that everyone has holds the power.

i personally feel that wikipedia can be a great help in research and holds the answers for millions of different topics, from the virtual revolution to celebrity life styles (not sure really why someone would want to search Katie Prices newest cosmetic procedure mind). But i also feel as though i must be wary of the knowledge i am taking in whilst on the website. Where did the knowledge come from in the first place and is it correct.

News papers have been discussing these points for years and there are so many different opinions on whether the information being broadcast to the web is legitimate. the idea of the website is good, but is it the most practical of sources?
